Helping Partner Shelters in Need Orcas Animal Protection Society has continued to help cats and dogs from nearby shelters. In 2010, the Orcas Animal Shelter has taken in many kittens from the Cats Meow Shelter in Anacortes and dogs, cats, and kittens from Whatcom Humane in Bellingham. Almost all of these lucky pets have already found homes. Because of the great response, the Orcas APS plans to continue to partner with other shelters in Washington to help resolve over-capacity issues. As space permits, we are able to take in adoptable animals, saving many that might otherwise be euthanized in overcrowded off-island shelters. |
Trade In Your Treadmill For A Dog The Orcas APS, in partnership with North Cascade Cardiology, is encouraging cardiac patients to hop off the treadmill and head to the animal shelter instead, where lonesome pooches are ready to tag along for a walk. The clinic has partnered with the Orcas Animal Shelter to help patients fill their prescriptions for exercise with friendly, furry company and fresh air, instead of inside hospital walls. |
